Friends of Burley Musky Fest

8/21/2023

Will's Northwoods Inn is hosting their annual Musky Fest on Saturday September 9th. This classic street festival features great food, cold beer and live music all day!

Even better, Friends of Burley has been invited to volunteer at the event again this year. We will be working the street entrance to the fest at Racine and Wellington, with the assistance of their staff and security, collecting the suggested donation. Best of all - all donations collected go directly back to Friends of Burley and support our school and our children! Sign up!

All volunteers receive free entry to the fest, 2 drink tickets, 2 food tickets and the chance to show the community what Friends of Burley is all about - fun while supporting our school! So grab a friend and donate your time to help FOB and Raise it Up!

Please sign up before Wednesday, August 30th.

Beginning of Year Forms, Fees, and Documents (SY 23-24)

8/9/2023

Step 1: Review Documents

Read through the Burley specific packet of documents attached below. These include:
  • Burley student fee information form. CLICK HERE
  • Chicago Public Schools 2023-2024 calendar CLICK HERE

 Step 2: Pay School Fee

Pay the School Year 2023-24 $125 per student school fee by clicking HERE (choosing to make a one time payment) using our online Epay system which is also located on the school website at burley.cps.edu and can be located by clicking on the Parents tab at the top of the website and then click on the Pay Fees tab on right side button to pay fees.

In the Epay system, choose to make a 1 time payment, fill out the student information and click on the student fee bar. Then click the drop down to pay the $125 student fee option. (student ID number can be found in the student's Aspen account, on report cards, progress reports, etc. If you can't find the student ID number reach out to Celi Aviles [email protected] or call 773-534-5475). If you have multiple children that attend Burley you can build a "cart" and check out all at once in the end for one transaction.

Note: We are continuing to utilize these school fee funds to supplement staffing costs, staff professional development, instructional supplies and materials, furniture, equipment and contracts (health classes, copiers, etc) and more. We rely on these funds and appreciate your effort to pay the fee. If financially you are unable to pay at this time in full or have questions about student fees, please email Ms. Aviles at [email protected] so we can get back to you about your individual needs.

 Step 3: Registration Packet

Complete the 5 Registration Packet items listed below. (any newly enrolled students for the 2023-24 school year already completed this packet at enrollment.)

NOTE: all forms must have an original signature, electronic signatures cannot be accepted. Please complete on paper copy and turn in at Burley on Early Bird Day or the first day of school.

  • Fill out the Emergency Contact Form  (one completed for each Burley student). It is extremely important that we have emergency contact information for each student on the first day of school. Therefore, the Early Bird process will require that all parents arrive on August 21st having completed OR ready to complete the Emergency Contact Form.

  • Print and fill out these additional four forms
  • Media Release Form (one completed for each Burley student).
  • CPS Family Income Form (one completed per household)
  • School Messaging Form (one completed for each Burley student).
  • Student Medical Information Form (one completed for each Burley student).

As always, if you have questions or need more information don't hesitate to reach out to Burley 773-534-5475. We are here to help.

Early Bird Day at Burley School
Friday, August 18th
8:30am-6:00pm

We hope you are having a great summer and we can't wait to see all of our Burley friends at Early Bird Day in about 2 weeks on Friday, August 18th!

8:30-9:30am ONLY - meet teacher and visit classrooms
8:30am-6pm - complete or submit forms and fees, drop off supplies

We treasure the opportunity for students and families to be able to visit the school and their classroom, meet the teacher, and drop off their supplies in the classroom early so they don't have to bring them on the 1st day of school.

Note: If you are not able to attend the open house from 8:30am-9:30am, you can still come by anytime between 8:30am-6:00pm to drop off school supplies (labeled with student name and teacher name in a bag that will not be returned) and we will get them to the classroom BUT you will not be able to visit the classroom at that time. It will just be a supply and form drop off.

Please escort your children to their classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet your teachers. Enter the school using the East Doors (main entrance) only.

To make your Early Bird Day visit as smooth as possible, please plan to do one of the following options:
  • Complete the 5 forms at home, print and sign, and turn them in at Burley on Early Bird Day
  • Come to Burley on Early Bird Day and complete the 5 paper forms in person

While at Early Bird Day:
  • Drop off your school supplies in your child's classroom (outside the classroom after 9:30am).
  • Pay the Student Fee of $125 per student (pay in advance using Epay electronically or can pay at Early Bird Day in cash)
  • Complete or turn in the 5 annual documents (see links below):
  1. Family Income Form (CPS budgeting requirement)
  2. Media Release
  3. Emergency Contact
  4. School Messaging
  5. Medical Information

If you are unable to come to Early Bird Day, no worries. Your child can bring their school supplies with them to school on the first day (Aug 21st) and parents can pay their fees electronically in Epay and complete paperwork in advance and drop off at Burley or complete forms in the South Lunchroom at 8:15am the first week of school.
