Ms. Wiktor teaches 6th grade Reading, Writing and Social Studies, coaches the 5th-8th grade volleyball team, and co-advises Student Council with 8th grade teacher Mr. McCormick. She is passionate about the subjects she teaches, and loves engaging with 11 and 12-year-old students on a daily basis because of their insightful views of literature, history and the world. Ms. Wiktor loves when her students get excited about the books they are reading, and strives to share her own reading as much as possible in the classroom.
In her free time, Ms. Wiktor loves going to Orangetheory. There are periods of time when she loves to run, and periods of time when it’s the last thing she wants to do. Still, she has run races at nearly every distance from the 5K to the marathon (though that was more of a 7 hour walk). She loves to bake, and is starting to experiment with healthier versions of her favorite baked goods. Ms. Wiktor is an avid reader of middle grade, young adult and adult fiction and nonfiction, and participates in two book clubs outside of school. She also plays recreational volleyball. Growing up in New York, Ms. Wiktor spent her summers at sleepaway camp as a camper and counselor, and continued that work here in Chicago as well. She also volunteers with a teen-led youth group, which has included summer travel to Italy and Israel! |
