Ms. Skibba is Burley's Instructional Technology Specialist and was previously a third grade teacher. She loves teaching all the students from Kindergarten through eighth grade because she gets to build relationships over the years and see each and every child grow and progress. In her weekly classes, she strives to create an atmosphere of challenge, creativity, exploration, and fun, while also building habits of care and respect for people and technology. In addition to teaching, she collaborates with colleagues, co-teaches, and provides professional development to support classroom integration of 1:1 iPads and Chromebooks. She has been honored as an Apple Distinguished Educator and presents frequently at educational technology conferences.
Ms. Skibba grew up in Milwaukee, Massachusetts, and Kentucky, where she was an avid equestrian, competing in three-day eventing and later teaching riding lessons. She moved to Chicago after college and, in spite of the distance from horses, considers this her true home! As a child, she loved reading books by Beverly Cleary, E.B. White, and Roald Dahl. In her spare time, Ms. Skibba enjoys reading, music, traveling with her husband and son, cooking vegetarian food, and walking her dog.
