Prior to becoming Burley's STEAM teacher, Ms. Sanders has worked as a math teacher, administrator, and STEM Coach. She has lived and worked in Chicago and the suburbs all her life, and teaching has always been her passion. In her weekly classes for grades K-8, the curriculum is guided by student interest and curiosity. Students plan, design, sketch, prototype, improve, and reflect on their innovations. They engineer and design using exciting tools that are unique to the STEAM Lab. Ms. Sanders loves seeing students grow as creative problem solvers, innovators, and teammates.
Ms. Sanders is a proud wife and mother to three young men, two of whom are in college and one in high school, and mom to three naughty but sweet fur baby dogs. When she is not lesson planning or preparing for students, you can find her cheering on her own boys' many college and high school activities, playing with her pups, or "nerding out" somehow through reading, making, sewing, creating jewelry, and crafting.
STEAM Lab relies heavily on donations and the generosity of our Burley family. Thank you in advance for all of your support. For a list of items that we can use please see the classroom website or email Ms. Sanders at dlsanders @ cps.edu.
