As a Kindergarten teacher, Ms. McLaughlin is astounded at the growth these young students make over the course of a year. She loves watching their writing evolve from single letters into narratives and sharing their joy when they read their first book independently. She became a teacher, with an emphasis on reading instruction, because of her love for books. She has always been fascinated by picture books and strives to pass the joy of reading onto others.
Ms. McLaughlin enjoys reading with her two young sons, cooking, going to concerts, working out, and most of all, traveling around the world. She is originally from Muskegon, Michigan, and moved to Chicago right after college. Growing up surrounded by water, her only "must-have" when choosing a place to live is being near a beach -- and that's where she spends most of her summer. Her favorite authors from her own childhood are Shel Silverstein, Judy Blume, and E.B. White.
